Krzysztof Gierulski is a Member of the Support Group for Ukraine (SGUA) of the European Commission. His main task is to provide expertise and coordinated assistance to the reforms in Ukraine in relation to energy efficiency and renewable energy. He has been seconded to SGUA from the Directorate-General for Energy of the European Commission, where for over 6 years he worked on the EU energy efficiency policies, was involved drafting EU legislation including Energy Efficiency Directive, implementation of the EU rules on metering & billing, enforcement of the rights of energy consumers, advice to the EU Member States on the implementation of the National Energy Efficiency Action Plans, etc. Before joining the European Commission for 3 years he worked for the EU executive agency implementing the Intelligent Energy Europe Programme. He also gained over 10 years of professional experience working in Poland as an executive manager of the national renewable energy centre implementing sustainable energy projects and assisting the Polish Government in the process of the accession to the EU.
